Arctic Parliamentarians invite all children between the ages approx. 14-16 in schools in the Arctic countries to participate in a Call for Papers. The theme is “mental health”, and aims at giving children and young people the opportunity to talk about, reflect on and learn about their mental health.

Chair of Arctic Parliamentarians invite all young people in the Arctic to participate in the Call for Papers, which applies to all countries within the Arctic Circle. Here, all schools have the an opportunity to elaborate on the topic of “mental health” during school hours.

The product that the students submit can be an essay, podcast, short film or any other product that can be sent digitally. All inputs received will be collected and included in the Arctic Parliamentarians work as well as sent to relevant authorities.

“My motivation to put out this Call for Papers is to increase focus on the mental health of children and young people. In addition, I believe that it is important to involve young people in the Arctic so that we as politicians can take their perspectives into account in our work. A prerequisite for working for the young people is that we understand how they think and experience the world around them, ”says Aaja Chemnitz Larsen.

This Call for Papers allows young people between the ages 14-16 to work with the subject at school and send in their products and thus contributing with their special perspectives about mental health in the Arctic. It is part of a political process in which citizens are first consulted and then the perspectives are involved in the political work. Aaja says the following:

“As a politician, it is important to involve all citizens. I thought this was a good way to get young people involved in regional politics and contribute to mental health being discussed and taught in schools. I am very much looking forward to seeing what the young people will submit”

In addition, Aaja points out that she looks forward to receiving and later sharing the results with the remaining population and hopes that all those who can, want to participate.
