Description

Larry Maguire was first elected as the Member of Parliament for the federal riding of Brandon-Souris in 2013, after spending 14 years as a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba.

A former farm leader, Maguire was twice elected to the Canadian wheat Board Advisory Committee, chaired the Agricultural Diversification Alliance, served as public governor of the Winnipeg Commodity Exchange, and was elected president of the Western Canadian Wheat Growers Association.

During his time in the Manitoba legislature, Maguire served as critic in a number of portfolios, including Environment, Conservation, Transportation, Intergovernmental Affairs, Infrastructure, Government Services, and Competitiveness, Training and Trade.

Maguire is the current Vice-Chair of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Heritage, and has previously served on the Committees for Human Resources, Skills and Social Development; Status of Persons with Disabilities; and Public Safety and National Security.

Larry has two wonderful children and seven grandchildren.
