Senator Murkowski welcomes participants to the GLACIER conference in Anchorage

Senator Lisa Murkowski welcomed particpants  to the Arctic conference GLACIER which takes place in Anchorge, Alaska August 31 and is hosted by the US State department.

Together with Secretary of State Mr. John Kerry and senator Dan Sullivan from Alaska, senator Murkowski addressed the participants at a welcoming reception held in Anchorage Museum.

In her welcoming speech Senator Murkowski underlined that Alaska is not only in front when it comes to experience the consequences of climate change. Alaska is also in leading in developing renewable energy resources and cold climate technology.

Secretary Kerry said in his intervention that President Obama's participation in the GLACIER conference and three day visit to Alaska shows the commitment from the president to the Arctic.
